The Weather Wins!

We started this most beautiful day with a Zodiac ride to Maggie's across on the UP to bring back three more kayaks. Dick guided us in as the rising sun was in our faces. More kayaks means that more folks can paddle together and this morning everybody (except Pan) headed over to the harbor and a second effort at finding the heron rookery. Pan stayed behind to greet any visitors to the lighthouse.

It was Diane and Tim's first kayak trip. Neil, our resident photographer, took some underwater shots of the submerged piers from the old village. Jamie and Neil are starting to think there is no rookery as for the second day the search parties have not been able to find it.

This afternoon we had our first visit from the Shepler's west bound lighthouse cruise. Susie and Pan managed the drop magnificently. We would like to thank Joleen for the rhubarb and ginger preserves and Dick for the 2011 edition of the ship identified. The thousand footer Edwin Gott came by this evening.

Jamie and Neil have jumped right in as keepers, Neil at the dish washing table and Jamie's broom has taken out bug infested spider webs by the score. A lighthouse needs folks that like to clean and we have been blessed with them this summer.

Our lack of pictures is only because we are still posting from an iPhone.
