Another day in the classroom?

We have rather unusual classrooms here on St. Helena.  This is a picture of a lesson on freighter identification.  If you look just to the left of Michele standing on the bench you can just make out a freighter going up bound to Chicago.  That was another lesson, up bound is when the freighters are coming into the lakes and down bound is when they are headed out.  Despite the fact that Chicago is south of the Straits going to Chicago is up bound.
We also got a Great Lakes salut from the Coast Guard ice breaker and buoy tender Mackinaw during this class.
Another in our occasional pictures of yet another angle on our lighthouse.  This one was taken from out in front of the lighthouse, meaning the Straits are to my back.  We were out there last night for yet another camp fire and Hot Rocks S'mores were devoured.  We have yet to have anyone turn one down.

And yes, Susie is still meticulously painting the front door screen.

We have started to receive pictures from Neil, one of the earlier summer keepers and a photographer.  If I can figure it out I hope to put some of them up on this blog.  Stay tuned.
