Bye and Hello

We bid good bye to our wonderful B & Bers.  It was great watching the Chicago to Mackinac race with you folks.

We say hello to our new keepers who have learned real quick about Island Time.  Last night their son successfully used left over ham to catch several crawfish from the dock.  We don't have much in the way of fish out here.  He also made himself a walking stick and proudly hikes the Island with it.

We are finally feeling the heat out here that I know most of you have been feeling for awhile.  Just as long as you stay out of the sun at mid-day we have our air conditioning,  the Island Breeze.  Yesterday morning, our lighthouse inspector (FeeBee) and I took a early morning walk along the shore to the village.  We watched as the sun rose and the Mergansers and Canada geese left the high grass for a day on the Straits.

This is our view as we returned to the lighthouse.  That is the big screen T.V. and those colorful tubes are our collection of kayaks.  The first night our new keepers were here Susie and Katherine took most of them for a paddle to the village.  The cool of the night and the cool of the water are helping us cope with our hot weather.

This is Rick, a new keeper, taking advantage of the calm of our inlet and just floating the waters and learning about Island Time.

We did have a thundershower yesterday but it was early and things heated up later.  This morning we have clouds that are making it most pleasant.  The keepers at St. Helena Light Station.

  1. Tonight I purchased the gluten flour, chips and peanut butter - the final items on your grocery list. Everything will be delivered during Friday morning's keeper swap. Enjoy the watermelon - I hope it's moist and flavorful! Have a great "weekend!"
