Just another Sunday

The day started with a good down pour but ended with ground fog as it was rather warm in the end.  Thank goodness for our Island Breezes.  Folks in town reported sweltering heat.  Something that has come on rather suddenly.

This is our big screen TV from the outside of the boat house.  You can just see one of the chairs vacant and waiting for a viewer.

The bridge has disappeared this morning as the ground fog has returned, making the bridge and the lower peninsula non-existent.  The wind is out of the east and we can hear loud and clear the fog horn on the bridge.

Our wild flowers are disappearing in the heat and progression of the summer but I thought you might like to get a look at the variety.  Check some of the past blogs for our tiger lilies.

Last fall the Coast Guard replaced our plastic imitation Fresnel lens with this new plastic lens.  You can stand right up in the lantern room when it is on and it is hard to believe this little thing can cast a beam across the straits.  You have to come and see it to believe it.

FeeBee has settled in and taken over the parlor. This is an older picture as she has her coat on.  It has gotten warm enough she only wears her coat at night.  By the way we have put a towel on the couch and removed the pillow.  She has also taken to the floor now that it is warmer or maybe because of the lack of pillow.

I will leave you with this seen of the early morning.  These are our Canadas leaving the high grass outside the assistant keeper's after spending the night.  They are on their way to a day around the Island ever in search of food.  We had a group stomp through the front of the lighthouse and down our sidewalk to our little inlet last night as the water was ruff and they walked home.

Your keepers at St. Helena Island Light Station.
