Some more good byes and hellos

It was keeper exchange day, yesterday.  The lake was running high.  When we went out to met Cake and Ice Cream to moor the first thing we met were waves about a foot and a half tall.  They pushed us into the shore and one wet leg later we were headed out and a "bobbing up and down" mooring was accomplished.

Before our keepers left I wanted a picture and as you can see this first picture was waiting for Lori to give up and agree to be in the second picture.

From left to right we have Hogan, Lori, Michele and Mark.  Hogan and Mark have been our building problem solvers supreme for the last few days.  While Lori and Michele have cooked up a storm, painted and sorted (organized).  Lori and Michele will be back on Tuesday as they are support staff for our teachers' workshop.  They also spent time getting things ready for the workshop.

The crew got off with little problem other then the high lake.  A couple of friends from town came out with Captain Dick to say hello and to help moor.  Sharon is our third keeper for a few days.  Once the Cake and Ice Cream was off safe and sound it was back to painting and Susie is working on sanding down one of the screen doors to be painted.

After dinner and clean up we headed to the big screen for the evening.  Above Sharon and Susie are hard at their needle work.  Susie is working on butterfly curtains for the upstairs hall window (in our Mackinaw City house) and Sharon is finishing up a quilt for the homeless veterans home that is due to open in her hometown of Gaylord.

This sculpture sits in our inlet.  We didn't have to sculpt the sea gull as our gulls take turns keeping up the image.  We are due to get rain today and the sky to the north looks like that might be true.  But then we have watched many a storm pass just north or south of the Island as we stayed dry.

The keepers at St. Helena Light Station.
