June 18, 2011

Today we took out to the Island, the first contingency of Boy Scouts from Troop 4 in Ann Arbor.  It was a beautiful day with the temperature in the 70's.  The wind was out of the east which meant we had to head to the harbor to put the Zodiac into the water.  The wind picked up as we headed back to the mooring and it was a tricky job getting the Cake and Ice Cream moored.  Two hours later the Scouts had all their gear not only on the dock but distributed to the appropriate locations.

Susie and I watered the garden we planted on Monday.  There had been rain predicted but it did not come all week so the only veggie that had stuck up out of the dirt was an onion.  So we watered and watered and watered while the guys brought in their gear.

The Scouts brought lunch after which we headed back out to the Cake and Ice Cream for our ride home.  The winds were still up and the waves were rolling thus the un-mooring was just as difficult as the mooring.  But in the end all went well and as we headed back to Mackinaw City marina the winds started to die down making the backing into our slip much easier.

Tomorrow, Dick takes the second group of Scouts out to the Island.  "Island Dream, St. Helen".
