A Workin' Sunday

Another beautiful day in paradise, St. Helena!

Dave Fellenz, Jerry Lapidakis, and Tim Sutton worked all day on a lakeside hiking trail on the southwest side of the island.  About 1/2 mile of trail was cut last season and today we cut an additional 700 feet of trail including brush, small trees, etc.  It was beautiful weather, few bugs.  A picnic lunch was brought to us by our friends that did other work at the lighthouse.  At the end of the day, we found two 55 gallon drums along the trail and checked an aerial photo which showed an old road, very indistinct, which went from one side of the island to the other.  The history of this road is unknown.  Arriving back sweaty and hot, we much appreciated an awesome outdoor shower that was provided.  A great day!
Meanwhile back at the light station, Diane, Susie and Pan planted all the new veggies we brought out yesterday.  We are determined to have a salad garden before the summer is over.  Tried our "new this summer" effort to make bread right here on St. Helena.  We made buns for our pork sandwich dinner.

Sounds like we worked all day.  But naps were had by most and the "big screen T.V." is on again this evening.  Identifying ducks and counting Canada goslings are on the agenda before bed.  Good hot showers were had by all.  Lighthouse Keepers Diane and Tim Sutton, Dave Fallenz, Jerry Lapidakis, Susie and Pan
